Elena Charbila, signed with Schubert Music Publishing US, has an established track record as a composer, producer and recording artist under her moniker “Kid Moxie”. Her fifth studio album ‘Better Than Electric’ is already considered her best recording yet.
Kid Moxie’s cinematic pop music has been featured in multiple TV commercials including a national Victoria’s Secret ad campaign, several TV shows and numerous indie films.
“I like to call my music ‘cinematic pop’”, she explains. That’s hardly a surprise, coming from someone those credits include penning songs for the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, as well as the retro-futuristic soundtrack to the 2019 indie film Not To Be Unpleasant But We Need To Have A Serious Talk (Lakeshore Records), and whom CNN recently mentioned as a female composer worthy of Oscar attention.
Speaking of cinematic, Kid Moxie’s new album is sonically meant to evoke the Downtown LA skyline, night rides and retro-futuristic love scenes that are drenched in neon. “I was obsessed with the title ‘Better Than Electric,’ with how it made me feel, and with how it would translate to sound. I still don’t know exactly what it means, but I know how it makes me feel.”
“This album is as close to my emotional and sonic sensibilities as can possibly be,” she enthuses. “It’s a blending of everything I love to listen to, every song is a cinematic scene, and the lyrics are there to ideally serve the picture.”
