Multi-award winning singer LINA & Irish composer and songwriter Jules Maxwell
announce a new album out via Atlantic Curve / Schubert Music Europe
After releasing “Burn”, a collaborative album with Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance,
Jules Maxwell now joins forces with the multi-award winning Portuguese singer LINA_ to
explore the poetic connections between Ireland and Portugal in a work entitled “Terra
Mãe” (Mother Earth).
The album features original songs by Jules Maxwell, Lina_ and the Portuguese writer
Amélia Muge. Like the “Burn” record, it is produced by English composer James Chapman
(aka Maps).
LINA_ has captivated international audiences, performing on renowned stages and
festivals such as Førdefestivalen in Norway, WOMAD UK, Cafe de La Danse in Paris,
Eurosonic, among many others, in an extensive tour spanning over 50 dates.
In January 2024, LINA_ released her latest album, “Fado Camões“, a groundbreaking
project that intertwines Fado with the poetry of Luís Vaz de Camões. Produced by British
musician Justin Adams (Robert Plant, Tinariwen), arrangements by John Baggott
(Portishead, Massive Attack), the album has been widely praised for its spacious,
contemporary approach to fado. “Fado Camões“ has received prestigious international
recognition, winning Best European Record for 2023/2024 by the Transglobal World
Music Chart and ranking #3 in its Top 100 Records for 2023/2024. Additionally, the album
secured the #2 spot in the World Music Charts Europe’s Best of 2024 list. For the new
project “Terra Mãe” she also composed two songs.
Jules Maxwell is a songwriter and composer from Belfast, best known for his work with
Dead Can Dance, Foy Vance, Lisa Gerrard and as composer for many theatre and dance
productions in London, particularly at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
He has also released six solo albums and written an opera, “The Lost Thing”, which was
premiered at the Royal Opera House in London in 2019. He composed the soundtrack for
the short film “Dance Lexie Dance” which was nominated for an “Oscar” in 1998.

Lina Rodrigues: “I became acquainted with Jules Maxwell through the Burn album, his
collaboration with Lisa Gerrard. This connection sparked a mutual desire for us to create
an album together. Adapting lyrics and composing melodies based on the foundations laid
by Jules Maxwell was a challenging yet rewarding experience that significantly boosted
my confidence as a songwriter.
For me, the album embodies a profound spiritual and ethereal connection, intertwining
themes of the immaterial, nature, and religion. “Terra Mãe” unites two distinct musical
genres that, despite their differences, share a deep sense of identity and emotion. I can’t
wait to share it with you!“
Jules Maxwell: “When I first heard Lina singing Fado I was instantly reminded of the Sean
Nós singing tradition of my native Ireland and I was eager to work with her. Terra Mãe
has been a joy to create. The songs are original compositions born of Ireland, beautifully
adapted by Lina and Amelia Muge into Portuguese, with a sound forged in the fire of
English electronic producer James Chapman who I previously worked with on the “Burn”
album with Lisa Gerrard. I am excited for audiences to experience it.”
LINA_ & Jules’ joint album “Terra Mãe” will be released by Atlantic Curve / Schubert
Music Europe on June 27th, 2025 (The Orchard).
