In 2023, J Mahon set out to create an album that had a ‘true’ album feel; one that evokes memories of hours spent in your teenage bed with headphones on, looking at the ceiling and wondering at the future. Taking inspiration from the likes of Sparklehorse and Daniel Johnston, J Mahon creates a more uplifting and approachable ‘Chamber Pop’ sonic landscape, akin to acts like Spiritualized and Sigur Rós, while his soulful voice and lyricism evoke otherworldly luminaries like Jeff Buckley, Townes Van Zandt, and Joanna Newsom.
The result is called “Begin Again, Again”, which includes the singles “While You’re Travelling”, “The One Thing That Remains “, and “Begin Again”, and is out today via Unique Records.
