Bill Murphy, co-founder and owner of Pacific Electric Music Publishing, Inc., joins Schubert Music Publishing as new MD and Partner of Schubert’s US company, based in Los Angeles. He brings with him the catalogues administered by Pacific Electric Music Publishing.
Bill Murphy: “I have always admired how Andreas has built his company into a powerhouse in the EU, and how he has put together such a great team while being a calm force within the chaos of the modern music industry. Working with Schubert over the last few years, we have always had a great working relationship and could count on them to provide excellent service and counsel as well as a very forward thinking approach to the current music industry. When Andreas approached me regarding the opportunity to help with the US company, it made perfect sense. I look forward to helping Schubert expand the company in the North American markets, working closely with the global Schubert team, and to being able to provide greater reach and resources throughout the world to our existing clients.”
Andreas Schubert: “I have known Bill for many years to be a very competent, versatile, and friendly colleague. Together with Brian McPherson, Bill helped to build the great independent publishing administration company Pacific Electric Music, which has represented the publishing rights for artists such as Apples in stereo, Lambchop, The Mountain Goats, the Richie Havens estate, the Radar Bros, John Doe, Holger Beier, Idaho, Olivia Tremor Control, the Apartments, Ann Magnuson, Disciples of Babylon, William Tyler, Alain Whyte and many others.
Together with all my colleagues, I am very happy to welcome Bill into the Schubert family. I am sure he will lead our North American operation with care and creativity for the benefit of all our writers, and at the same time we are proud to continue the success story of Pacific Electric, assuring all administrated writers and companies the best services possible.
Bill Murphy:
Bill is a broadly experienced administrator for major music publishers and record companies with management background in copyright administration, licensing, audits and royalties, though he has worked in every step of the modern music publishing process as well as working on the due diligence for various publishing catalog acquisitions.
