Jules Maxwell is an Irish composer and songwriter, best known for his work with Dead Can Dance, Lisa Gerrard, and numerous acclaimed theater productions, including projects at Shakespeare’s Globe in London. His career spans solo albums, opera, film scores, and an Academy Award nomination for the short film Dance Lexie Dance. Maxwell’s music is deeply rooted in the poetic and spiritual traditions of Ireland, blending folk influences with cinematic and experimental soundscapes.
Their collaboration began after LINA_ discovered Maxwell’s work on Burn, his album with Lisa Gerrard. Inspired by the emotional connection between Irish and Portuguese musical traditions, they decided to create Terra Mãe (“Mother Earth”) — an album of original songs exploring themes of nature, spirituality, and identity. Produced by James Chapman (aka Maps), Terra Mãe is a meeting of two distinct voices, creating music that feels both ancient and timeless.
