Welle: Erdball

April 24, 2025

Welle: Erdball is a German electronic band combining elements of synth-pop, New Wave, and EBM, infused with a strong sense of retro-futurism. Founded in the early 1990s, the group stands out for its use of the Commodore C=64 as a main instrument and for treating each album as a thematic broadcast, often revolving around media, technology, and digital life.

Their music features catchy melodies, driving beats, and German lyrics – occasionally mixed with English, Russian, and Swedish. Over more than 30 years, Welle: Erdball has built a cult following with their unique sound, theatrical performances, and creative projects, including audio dramas and even their own video games for vintage systems. Their latest release, “Film, Funk & Fernsehen”, continues their tradition of merging nostalgia with innovation.
