Schubert Music Publishing Germany started its relaunch in 2013 when Eric Burton, former A&R at AMV Talpa Publishing, joined forces with Andreas Schubert in Hamburg. In the beginning, with only two people, the company developed quickly, connecting the publishing activities with the businesses of Hardbeat Promotion and Celsius Management, then also installing the company’s own label SMILE, releasing various Schubert Music artists internationally. With the addition of Thomas Thyssen as A+R Manager in September 2018, SMP Germany was also officially being represented in Berlin with a second Germany-based office. At the end of 2019, Schubert Music joined forces with The Orchard as their world-wide distribution partner, and set up a new international label structure which includes labels like Restless (Mainstream/Pop), Mirabella (Schlager), Pump It Suzi (EDM/Dance), Atlantic Curve (Alternative), Freakwave (Post-Punk) etc. Henrik Guemoes, the former A&R Director at Sony Music’s RCA- and Ariola labels, became an integral part of the Schubert Music office in Berlin from January 2020 on and is spearheading the Pop-, Schlager- and Dance label departments while also working as an Senior A&R for publishing as well as in the newly implemented producer management division of Celsius.
Schubert Music Publishing signed Top 3 artists such as Punk-Rapper Swiss & die Andern, worldwide touring Electro act VNV Nation, social media sensation Fewjar, the German Dark Rock heroes of Mono Inc. — who successfully released their first #1 album this year —, Belgian award-winning trailblazers Whispering Sons, and contemporary Post-Punk’s finest Holygram. Also, successful Metal acts like Thundermother, Atlantean Kodex and UADA as well as legendary NDW icon Joachim Witt call Schubert Music Publishing Germany their home.
